Fact-Checking Methodology
Fact-checking is a standard part of how we produce every URT Stories profile and feature.
Before interview
Writers research available public records, official documents, and prior coverage of the subject before an interview, so claims can be tested against known facts.
During interview
Interviews are recorded where possible and notes are kept. Specific figures, dates and claims are confirmed with the subject during the interview.
After interview
Every profile is reviewed by an editor. Facts are checked against the interview record and against primary sources — official documents, institutional announcements, and published materials where available.
Unverifiable claims
Claims we cannot verify are either attributed clearly to the subject or omitted. We do not publish speculation as fact.
References
Where practical, stories link to or cite the sources behind key claims, so readers can follow the evidence themselves.
